Concerts at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok
If you’re gearing up for an epic concert at Impact Arena, you’re in for a treat! I just went to see Green Day at Impact Arena and took notes so you don’t have to fumble your way through the logistics. Here is your guide to the Impact Arena at Muang Thong Thani near Bangkok, including information about the area, tickets, how to get there, food and drinks, and where to stay:
About Muang Thong Thani & Impact Arena
Muang Thong Thani isn’t technically Bangkok, but it sure feels like it! This massive complex just north of the city is home to condos, cafés, and the famous Impact Arena—where many of Thailand’s biggest concerts and events go down. In fact, Impact Arena is much more accessible than Rajamangala National Stadium, so getting to and from central Bangkok is a relative breeze. This arena is also smaller, making logistics within it easier for concerts.
Much like Rajamangala Stadium, Muang Thong Thani was developed in 1998 for the Asian Games. The main events took place at the national stadium, while indoor sports like boxing, billiards, and gymnastics took place at what is today the Impact Area. The Muang Thong Thani area was developed as the athletes’ village and grew into a residential and event hub post-Asian Games.
Today, Impact Arena is one of Southeast Asia’s top concert and event venues. Over the years, Impact Arena has seen everything from MMA knockouts to K-pop fan screams. It’s hosted five ONE Championship fights, the Thomas & Uber Cup, and even two Miss Universe pageants.
1. Choosing your tickets
Impact Arena is an indoor venue with a capacity of 11,000 people for concerts. Between the smaller capacity and u-shaped seating arrangement, most seating here will be quite decent for a show. There are two standing sections, and the rest of the space consists of seats in a usual bleacher style.

TL;DR
Indoor venue, 11,000 capacity—small enough for a great view, big enough for an electric atmosphere.
Seating is U-shaped; no major obstructions, so most seats are solid choices. The standing floor area had a single divider about two-thirds back.
For the Green Day 2025 show, I sat in Zone R, Row C—solid view, even if a bit far. See the photos in this article for reference.
The ticket pick-up system is quick and easy with a well-organized section just before the main entrance of the arena.
In our case, we had to pick up our tickets on arrival, which was a surprisingly smooth process organized by section, as seen in the photo above.
2. Enjoying a pre-party
In case you’re looking to have some drinks while you get ready for a show at Impact, you should know about one of Bangkok’s most bizarre laws: there is no alcohol sold in stores between 2 - 5 PM. Convenience stores and grocery stores block all alcohol between these hours and follow this outdated rule strictly.
So if you want to enjoy a drink from your hotel or rental apartment, you need to purchase it between 11 AM - 2 PM or between 5 PM - 12 AM. If you’re looking to go out before a concert, then know that bars and restaurants sell alcohol throughout the day. The law only affects the sale of alcohol from stores.
There is talk about removing this policy, although it’s not yet passed the senate approval.

3. Getting to Impact Arena in Muang Thong Thani
Unlike the national stadium, getting to Impact Arena is quite straightforward and stress-free. Of course, you need to consider the usual extra traffic and congestion when there’s a big event, but I didn’t experience any major stresses over transportation.
To take a rideshare or drive to the Impact Arena from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, it would take about 40-60 minutes by car and 30 minutes by motorbike.
Unfortunately, by public transportation, it would take 1h45 from central Bangkok (ex. Krung Thep Aphiwat), so I would only recommend it if you’re staying nearby and can take a bus. There is no train station close to the stadium. It’s about a 30-minute walk to Impact Arena from Soi Chaengwattana-Pakkret 38 or Si Rat station.
As always, I suggest leaving the show a little bit early if you can to help beat the traffic. Otherwise, you may have to wait quite a long time for a Grab car or bike.
4. Getting a Rideshare
Your best bet for transportation to and from Impact Arena is to use a rideshare app like Grab. If you’re feeling adventurous, using the Grab Bike option allows you to get on as a passenger on the back of a motorbike, and it allows you to beat traffic by a considerable amount.
If you ever have issues finding a ride on the Grab app (this can happen during peak times), you can try selecting all options or a premium option (it’s usually still quite affordable) to increase your chances of getting a ride more quickly.

Grab bikes and cars will do pick-ups and drop-offs here, around Impact Hall 5-8.
Where To Get Dropped Off
When getting your Grab car or bike using the Grab app, you’ll find several possible drop-off locations. Select Impact Mueang Thong Thani > Impact Hall 5-8 to be dropped off by the ticket pick-up location.
5. Finding Food at the Venue
There is a strip mall just outside of Impact Arena with fast food like Burger King and KFC, and a 7-Eleven (in case you didn’t know, their ready-to-eat food is pretty good!). These are located just minutes from the entrance, so you can collect your tickets and then grab a quick bite if needed before the show.
In the venue itself, you’ll also find fast food stalls, like Dunkin Donuts and McDonald’s. A McDonald’s combo meal would cost around 180-210thb in the venue.
6. Finding Drinks at the Venue
As for drinks, note that there is no alcohol sold in the venue and you cannot bring any liquids in.
When I visited the venue, water cost 30thb, soft drinks (Coca-Cola, Oishi Green Tea or soda water) cost 40thb, and ice cost an extra 20thb. Non-alcoholic Heineken is also available for 160thb.
Where to Stay When Seeing a Concert in Bangkok
If you’re planning to stay and visit Bangkok (which I recommend!), then I suggest staying in the city so you can experience its vibrance, attractions, food, and nightlife.
My favourite area of Bangkok for exploring historic neighbourhoods and chilling at cute cafes is Talat Noi. You can stay at the beautiful Blu Dock Restel for a cozy stay with a funky design and helpful owners—in fact, they are the ones who helped me discover Talat Noi and the neighbouring Song Wat street. From Blu Dock, you can take a nice ~15 minute walk — or a short Grab ride — to Talat Noi, Song Wat, and the Chao Phraya River.
I have also stayed in the neighbourhoods of Soi Nana and Sathorn before and both provided great budget accommodations and easy access to public transportation and food options within walking distance. Anywhere in Sukhumvit near a train station can be convenient for central stays, but doesn’t provide as much ambiance in my opinion.
